Tales of a Greener Ghana

Tales of a Greener Ghana

New chapters added to the story of how we’re going green the Ghanaian way.

Grab your favourite tale and let's raise a glass to Mother Earth! Here at tale, we believe that crafting exceptional beer goes hand in hand with preserving our planet for future generations.

We're all about celebrating our Ghanaian heritage and protecting the land we call home. We're excited to share how our sustainable initiatives reflect our commitment to our beloved country and the planet. So, sit back, relax, pop open a cold one and let's take a journey to discover how tale Beer is making Ghana greener, one sip at a time.

Embracing Kegs Over Bottles:

Bottles are here to stay, but kegs offer additional sustainability benefits. We've made the conscious choice to prioritise kegs over bottles for our packaging. Why? Because kegs offer a more sustainable solution that goes beyond just reducing waste. With fewer resources required for production and a significantly longer lifespan, kegs help minimise our carbon footprint.

Did you know that our kegs have a lifespan of over 20 years? That's two decades of delicious beers! By choosing kegs over bottles, we're not just making a green choice – we're also ensuring that our packaging materials stand the test of time.

Harnessing the Power of Nitrogen:

By swapping out some carbon dioxide (CO2) for nitrogen, we're not just making a change – we're making a sustainable difference. While CO2 is still required for carbonating beer (except for beers like stout), nitrogen plays a crucial role in protecting our beer and wort from oxygen. By replacing a substantial amount of CO2 with nitrogen, we're reducing our carbon footprint and supporting a healthier planet.

Plus, let's not forget the benefits for the beer itself – nitrogen creates a smoother, creamier texture and enhances the overall drinking experience.

Harnessing the Power of Solar Energy:

Here in Ghana, we recognise the challenges posed by inconsistent energy availability in our region.

Despite these challenges, in 2024, we're proud to announce our plans to go solar. By embracing clean, renewable energy, we aim to reduce our reliance on fossil fuels and contribute to a more sustainable future for Ghana and beyond.

Harnessing the abundant energy of the sun not only helps us mitigate the impact of unreliable energy infrastructure but also allows us to lead by example in promoting environmentally friendly practices within our community and beyond.

Reducing Water Waste:

We're committed to minimising our environmental impact, and that includes reducing water waste. We're proud to say that we don't dump any water waste; instead, we repurpose it for local irrigation. This not only helps conserve water but also supports local agriculture and reduces our carbon footprint.

Spent Grain for Local Farmers:

As a brewery dedicated to Ghana and its people, we're committed to reducing waste in our brewing process. Our spent grain is given away to local farmers, who use it as animal feed. This not only reduces waste but also supports our local community, promotes sustainable agriculture, and contributes to the growth and development of our beloved country.

As we raise our glasses to toast Earth Day, we want to extend a heartfelt thank you to all of you – our loyal customers, fellow Ghanaian patriots, and sustainability storytellers alike. Together, we're proving that being green isn't just a trend – it's a way of life. So, here's to raising a glass, raising awareness, and raising the bar for what it means to be proudly Ghanaian and environmentally conscious.

Cheers to a brighter, greener future for Ghana and beyond! Ayekoo!
