Tale Brewery Powers the Future with Solar Energy: A New Era of Sustainable Brewing

At Tale Brewery, sustainability has always been at the heart of what we do. From crafting beers with the finest natural ingredients to minimising our environmental footprint, we have consistently prioritised green practices. Today, we are excited to take the next big leap in our commitment to sustainability: we're harnessing the power of the sun to brew our beers!

We are proud to announce that Tale Brewery is now the largest brewery in Africa to be powered mainly by 100% renewable energy. Through our new solar power project, we're shifting our operations towards a greener, cleaner future. This exciting venture places us at the forefront of eco-friendly brewing on the continent.

The solar installation will feature over 250 solar panels, generating an incredible 149kW of power. This vast energy system will significantly reduce our reliance on non-renewable energy sources, allowing us to lower our carbon footprint and support a sustainable, low-carbon future. The best part? We’ve installed advanced battery storage systems that will allow us to store excess solar energy, enabling us to continue brewing even when the sun isn’t shining.

This move is a crucial milestone in Tale Brewery’s journey towards becoming a leader in sustainable brewing. But it doesn’t stop there – our sustainability efforts extend beyond solar power. We’ve long committed to using reusable bottles, biodegradable labels, and implementing water-saving techniques to reduce waste and conserve vital resources.

By integrating solar energy into our operations, we are not just reducing our electricity costs but also accelerating the transition to green energy. This shift is an essential part of our vision to help lead the industrial, commercial, and housing sectors in Africa through their own energy transitions.

We are thrilled to partner with NETIS Ghana, who are assisting us with the solar installation. NETIS Group’s vision is focused on helping businesses in Africa lower their carbon footprints, and their expertise in solar technology has made them the perfect ally in our quest for sustainability. Their work will ensure that the solar system operates efficiently and meets our energy needs, while also contributing to the growth of green energy infrastructure across the region.

The installed solar system will produce an estimated 212,904kWh of energy annually, covering about 65% of Tale Brewery’s total energy consumption. With this shift, we are reducing our reliance on the grid and backup generators, ultimately lowering our environmental impact and energy costs. It's a win-win situation for the planet and our bottom line!
